Dorchester District 2 officials meet to discuss school safety | News
DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC)- Dorchester District 2 officials met Monday night, and the primary topic of discussion was school safety.
According to district spokesperson Pat Raynor, the coordinator of security gave a full report auditing things like safety procedures and recent incidents.
Raynor says the rundown included a number of things that needed updates, such as fences at older schools.
In addition to the report, DD2 also invited officers from local law enforcement to visit schools in their jurisdiction to give input and identify any areas needing improvement. There are three separate law enforcement agencies in the school district.
Raynor says four DD2 elementary schools will receive resource officers from North Charleston Police Department, but there was no further discussion about adding resource officers to the other eight elementary schools. However, Raynor says that does not mean that discussion is over.
