Dorchester County Council agrees to add 4 new deputies | News

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC)- Dorchester County Council has agreed to add four deputies to the county's sheriff's department.

The addition comes at the request of Dorchester County Sheriff L.C. Knight. The four new deputies will bring the department's total to 14.

Dorchester County Administrator Ashley Jacobs says the county will use money originally intended for four new patrol vehicles to hire the deputies, which Knight agreed to. That money will get them to July 1, when the new budget year begins.

Jacobs says county council will then have to come up with $235,000 per year.
